Well this morning I planted more seed from a plumeria cross. While getting ready for work and playing with the dogs. lol I need to water so bad this weekend this heat wave is horrible. We have now been over 100 degrees for 14 days with the heat factors in the 105 to 115 range.

Boy I didn't want to get out of bed today, but had to go to work. I took a picture of some Asclepiadaceae I have rooting. Such a strange but beautiful family of plants. The cuttings I got are h. decipens, starfish catus gigantus, h. aspertmacrocapa, O. varigata, Stapelianthus hardyi and O. hesperioium. A little slow in rooting but will be a welcomed plant on my patio.

August 9, 2011

OK Today I start my blog of what's going on in the garden and my home. So let me introduce myself my name is John I was born in Houston grew up in Pasadena. I work in an engineering office in Houston as a CADD designer.  I bought my house back in 1996 was so excited about it. Huge yard is what caught my eye. In 2007 I moved my mother in from the home we grew up in. She then started to work on the garden. We have gone in several differnt directions on it. Like I had over 200 rose bushs in the yard at one time. Now I think I have 5 total it was to much for us to handle. Now it's more of a tropical garden loaded with fruit trees, bananas, crinums, vines of all kinds, ferns, air plants, and so on. We have had our challenges and have lost alot of plants but we always keep buying and trying. Like this summer it's the hottest driest summer I have ever known. To sum it up the gardens hot and the house is cool. lol

I went out last night with the dogs to see the plants on the patio. The vines seem to be finally growing which is nice they need to cover the top of the arbor so we can have shade. I did notice the cracks in the yard are getting worse we so need rain. I see things that need to be done but I just can't take the heat. You can bet on your last dime the first cool day I'm out there pulling and trimming. This morning I planted some seeds Hibiscus "Pink Swirl" and some plumeria seeds that someone had crossed and forgot what the parents were. So I will be surprized at what they will come out to be. I am still planning out a bed for hibiscus My mother suggested against the house where they will get good morning sun.

I set this up to tell you what is going on in the garden, with my family, and my pets through stories or pictures. Hope you enjoy!

John
